Hibinosekkei : Nursery

If finding a place in daycare for his offspring often looks complicated, install it in a structure that would be more functional and elegant is almost impossible mission. However, the Japanese agency Hibinosekkei did it in Yokohama (Japan), in a group that accommodates both kindergarten classrooms and kindergarten taking care of young students after school.

For this project of 160 square meters, the architects rehabilitated an old dilapidated residential building - close to the nursery school of the district - adorned for the occasion with a dark perforated metal coating. This new skin is punctuated by windows whose shape resembles that of house gables with two-sided roofing. In addition to giving its graphic identity to the construction, these large openings allow bathing educational spaces of natural light.

The set is spread over two levels, each of them housing modular rooms, welcoming toddlers during classes as well as after them. The interior is fully covered with plywood panels, chosen for their warm look in a stripped-down and minimalist set. Indeed, little furniture has been installed, so as to provide the largest floor space possible for the game. So that children give free rein to their imagination, only blackboards, audiovisual material and video booths. storage populate this infant kingdom.

What to relieve parents and stimulate their offspring.
