FORMZERO : The Window House

Open a project on the outside ... A problem common to the work of many architects, which everyone interprets in his own way. For the FORMZERO agency, the answer is expressed through the window model, or rather the framing model. A thread that guided the design of the Window House, located in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).

Inserted at the edge of a protected forest, this residence had to answer to its green environment. Or maybe not ... Indeed, what seemed obvious to the designers was not for its owners, who preferred to focus on interior design.
What to do then when the convictions of architects conflict with the client's requests? Far from discouraging the members of FORMZERO, this constraint inspired Window House, a residence largely exploiting the model of the window, so as to connect the outside with the place of life, while preserving intimacy and generous habitable surfaces wished. A subtle way to strengthen the link between the whole and its context, without altering the owners' requirements.

The least that can be said is that the means used to unite the building of 900 square meters and nature is rather unexpected: indeed, the main contractors decide to deploy from east to west a concrete shell . If, at first sight, the two elements seem antinomic, the use of a second concrete skin pierced with large openings of any shape allows to create green spaces between the structure of the house and its facade. Finally, this envelope with its overhanging roof itself acts as a giant frame to appreciate the panorama of the region without leaving home.

If the ground floor is mainly dedicated to living rooms, such as the living room, the dining room or the kitchen - despite the presence of a guest room - the two upper levels are exclusively reserved for spaces. by night. Each has a long central corridor serving on both sides of the house - five on the first floor, three on the second - and bathrooms.

Unique processes that have satisfied all stakeholders of the project and that bring a little greenery to convinced city dwellers.
