Fala Atelier : Maison à Faria Guimarães

In response to gentrification in the Ribeira district (Portugal), the Lusitanian agency Fala Atelier transforms an abandoned house into an original condominium of five apartments with affordable rents.

The rehabilitation project is first visible on the façade on the street, which the architects also decorate tile tiles revisited. Here, there are no complex religious motifs or complex arabesques, as we see on typically Portuguese azulejos, but a white-colored covering enriched with blue and red triangles randomly scattered between the windows and the monochrome doors, each of which takes one of these two colors.

The interior is completely redesigned by the project managers. What was originally a single dwelling fragmented into tight surfaces became a set of five studios all built on the same model: a living room with its wall clad with blue plywood panels masking kitchen, bathroom and spaces of storage, which faces the windows dressed with inner shutters of the same hue. The neutrality of the materials - light wooden parquet flooring, immaculate walls - offers a personalization option for future occupants.

The perfect solution for students and other budgets wishing to live in one of the trendiest neighborhoods of L'unbeaten.
